WELCOME TO ASHA/NEPAL
ASHA/NEPAL is a non-profit making, non-political and non-governmental organization established in 1998. ASHA Nepal is registered in District Administrative Office (DAO) and affiliated with Social Welfare Council which is the government body of the NGO sector in Nepal. It is established with the efforts of Nepalese professionals to improve the health, livelihood, education and socio-economic status of schoolchildren and the community people. ASHA / Nepal works with the government schools and rural communities to improve their basic health needs and livelihood.
ASHA/NEPAL coordinates with like-minded individuals and organizations seeking to achieve sustainability and self-reliance in society. It has focused activities for school and community health education, environment and nutrition promotion programs. It has emphasized its activities in policy formulation, implementation, research and advocacy. Group of professionals are involved in ASHA/NEPAL who are committed in community development through sustainable approaches.
OBJECTIVES
Why Does ASHA/NEPAL Work?
The high incidence of communicable diseases in Nepal, particularly among children is largely attributed to poor personal hygiene practices, unsanitary environment as well as unsafe drinking water. Appropriate practical education on hygiene, sanitation and nutrition can bring about positive hygiene behavior. Children are very eager to learn and to help their friends and parents through their active, energetic, enthusiastic, curious and communicative behavior. Therefore, schools are the most important places of learning for children after their home. School children can improve their well-being and can support to the community people for development activities.
