ASHA/NEPAL is a non-profit making, non-political and non-governmental organization established in 1998. ASHA/NEPAL is registered in District Administrative Office (DAO) and affiliated with Social Welfare Council which is the government body of the NGO sector in Nepal. It is established with the efforts of Nepalese professionals to improve the health, livelihood, education and socio-economic status of schoolchildren and the community people. ASHA/NEPAL works with the government schools and rural communities to improve their basic health needs and livelihood.

The high incidence of communicable diseases in Nepal, particularly among children is largely attributed to poor personal hygiene practices, unsanitary environment as well as unsafe drinking water. Appropriate practical education on hygiene, sanitation and nutrition can bring about positive hygiene behavior.
